Kent & Medway Business Fund

The Kent & Medway Business Fund (KMBF) offers interest-free loans or equity of between £50,000 to £500,000 for SMEs looking to grow and create new jobs, with priority being given to companies in the following sectors:


  • artificial intelligence
  • creative and digital
  • engineering
  • food production and technology
  • innovation rural businesses
  • manufacturing and pharmaceuticals

Applications from other sectors are also eligible, where they can demonstrate innovation, added value and sustainable job creation.

Launched in 2017, the KMBF is the successor to the previous Regional Growth Funding schemes (Escalate, Expansion East Kent, Marsh Million, Small Business Boost and TIGER), which are now closed to new applicants. All loan repayments from these schemes will be recycled into the new funding scheme.

Innovation Investment Loan Fund (i3)

This fund for incubating innovative businesses was launched in 2017, supporting SMEs with the potential for high growth, ability to create new jobs and demonstrate innovation within their sector/business. Though currently closed to pre-applications, if you wish to register your interest in possible future funding rounds, go to Innovation Investment Loan Fund.
